Position Scope
The Safety Manager is responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of the company’s safety policies and procedures. This role ensures compliance with company policies, as well as relevant federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.
Location & Travel: Onsite in Claude, TX. This is a 100% travel-based position, with project assignments typically lasting between 1 to 10 months. In addition to your base salary, you’ll receive a daily per diem to assist with living expenses while on assignment. This role includes regular rotational travel home from the job site. A company vehicle with fuel card will also be provide.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure that safety protocols are followed by all employees and contractors on-site.
- Identify at-risk behaviors and unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action when necessary.
- Identify and understand any contractual requirements (Safety or SWPP).
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure workplace safety standards are being met.
- Provide training to employees on safety practices and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensure the organization is compliant.
- Assist with the implementation, monitoring, and metrics communication system
- Responsible for project needs for safety supplies.
- Drive project team engagement.
- Identify & Reward Safety Champion(s).
- Communicate with client/ owner safety representative.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings for project.
- Support primary assigned project while providing assistance with documentation and PPE needs on additional projects as requested by the Construction Manager.
- Assist with any OSHA inspections.
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Work Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of construction safety in a supervisory/ management role
- CHST or other BCSP certification preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Knowledge and experience with medium and/ or high voltage substations, collection systems, or transmission lines preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Take reasonable care of yourself and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the goal of zero injuries.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, motivate workers and communicate with workers and superiors.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office email, internet, Excel spreadsheets, all documents, photos, and field time entry, as well as PACK Power’s documentation.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within timelines.
- Ability to read and interpret documents like safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
